Job Specific Accountabilities

• Performs complex and difficult laboratory analysis on a wide variety of samples (viz: liquid petroleum products, gases, water, caustic, catalysts etc,) from Research Center pilot plant units, crude oils, condensates, samples from Operating Plants, PI and off sites, in accordance with established international test methods viz. ASTM, IP, UOP, APHA using a wide range of advanced analytical techniques, software and state of the art equipment such as ion chromatograph, gas/ high pressure liquid chromatograph, spectroscopes, spectrophotometers etc.
• Reviews pre-commissioning, commissioning and performance test procedures and oversees pre-commissioning and commissioning for laboratory testing equipment and systems ensuring adherence to Research Center procedures and standards.
• Provides technical support to Pilot Plant Operation, Corrosion Monitoring and Catalyst Research labs as and when requested
• Reviews and endorses calibration and preventive maintenance of lab equipment, as per schedule.

M.Sc. in Chemistry or equivalent.

Ph.D. in the same field is preferable

4 years’ experience in Petroleum Refinery or Petrochemical Laboratories of which at least 2 years in a supervisory position and familiar with state of the art computerized lab equipment and software and LIMS.

Excellent leadership and team building skills.

Computer literate including Laboratory related computer application programs.

Motivation & ability to solve complex problems.

Very good knowledge of English, both written and oral. Knowledge of Arabic is preferable.
