Control System Senior Instrumentist (Offshore Based)

Job Description
  • odification and installation of new equipment on Turbo machinery and Vendor Package PLC's.
  • Preventive and Corrective Maintenance of control command for 4 turbo compressors (3 GE and 1 Rolls Royce) and 3 Siemens turbo generators, 1 motor-compressor (Mitsubhishi), Associated Turbine PLC's ((MarkVIe, Allen Bradley Control Logix) and F&G system (Allen Bradley, Detronics, Modicon) associated to Turbines , vendor packages and remote peripherals, Intouch Wonderware , RS Logix , Modbus+ network and Bently Nevada 3500 Vibration Monitoring System..
  • Develops and updates maintenance schedules and ensures safe and efficient implementation. Maintains a log of all maintenance work carried out, as well as performances data files on equipment in SAP.
  • Supervises the activities of junior technicians on Instruments Turbine Field P.M. & F&G
  • Assists Supervisor Instrument in technical expertise for any instrumentation matters in particular with regard to new technology equipment such as Turbine PLC's, Package PLC's and Peripheral PLC's, 
    • Carries out the repair of the various equipment and personally trouble shoots major jobs. Includes diagnosing faults, determining optimal procedure/equipment etc. to remedy and initiates repairs accordingly.
    • Assists Team Leader by carrying out maintenance tasks on Turbine PLC programs, configuration of InTouch telemetry, PC computer, and Turbine / Periphereal F&G system maintenance and modifications and compliance to Safety Bulletins /Alerts from Vendors.
    • Implementation of preventive maintenance schedules. Includes determining priorities, allocating manpower and equipment/tools and ensures the timely completion of jobs according to schedule and work permits.
    • Adheres to all safety rules and regulations, and supervises fire and gas detection. Ensures good housekeeping on the work location.
    • Evaluates performance of electronic equipment and recommends modifications, as necessary to enhance/improve safety and efficiency and minimize cost of such. Ensures the update of files for any major modifications carried out.
    • Reviews recommended modifications or projects, studies the technical feasibility and gives recommendations on standardization of materials and compatible equipment. Participates in defining and listing spare parts for such projects as well as in pre-commissioning and commissioning of those mentioned jobs.
    • Prepares documentation regarding machinery and equipment to be sent to onshore for repair or overhaul. Includes indicating diagnostic findings and recommendations.
    • Hands over rotation reporting to back to back counterpart. Includes briefing on main events and required follow up action.
    • Liaises with team leader/Supervisor to define optimum stock and re-order levels and to ensure availability of spare parts.
    • Performs electrical isolations as defined by appropriate procedure.
    • Assists Senior Team Leader/Supervisor in technical expertise of any instrumentation matter. Includes as necessary trouble shooting, diagnosis. Analysis, special studies etc.. Keeps aware of sophisticated technologies/systems/equipment for that purpose.

     

    Work Contacts:

    • Frequent contacts with safety, production and other maintenance disciplines staff mainly at own level for exchange of information and coordination.
    • Occasional contacts with suppliers for follow up on diagnosis repairs or spares.

     

    Independence of Operations (Responsibility for actions or decisions):

    • Works according to established procedures and specialized technical standards. Completed work is checked at regular intervals and overall performance is spot-checked by supervisor.
    • Core responsibility Experience with Modbus+ network and Modicon/Allen Bradley PLC & Mark VI’e Control System and Turbo Machinery (Siemens,GE,Rolls Royce and Mitsubhishi).
    • Knowledge on DCS Honeywell TDC3000, Experion, and Ticonex TMR will be an added advantage.

     

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    • Provides work direction to Junior Technicians, and in occasions carry out maintenance activities as required on Turbine Control Systems and other package PLC's.
    • Focus point to report to Hierarchies, the activities of all PLC & F&G systems as explained above.

     

    Physical Effort:

    • Slight physical effort of standing, walking, climbing, for 20% of work time.

     

    Work Conditions:

    Exposed to dirt, heat, grease, fumes, noise and other plant conditions for 20% of work time

Minimum Requirements (Job Knowledge):

  • Completion of Secondary education (12 years) plus 2 years formal training or equivalent.

Either: Bac + 2 + at least 12 years' experience, very wide, in all instrumentation and electronic matters.

  • 7 to 8 years' experience in related to turbine maintenance, Turbine Controls Systems and Allen Bradley/ Modicon PLC's in oil and Gas industry or similar.
  • Fluent knowledge of written and spoken English. Experience in SAP or Similar CMMS.

 

OTHER CONDITIONS:

Starting Date                           :    October 2019

Period required                       :    till 08/03/2021

Work Location                         :     Offshore - Abu Dhabi.

Work Rotation cycle                :    29 days on duty / 27 days off-duty.
